Introduction to Strip Method Fusing

Saturday, October 1 10 AM - 5 PM

Sunday, October 2 10 AM - 5 PM

This two-day workshop provides an intensive overview of Strip Method fusing, including design concept, glass selection, strip cutting, pattern layup, firing schedules, and coldworking techniques. Various types of coldworking are covered – sawing, grinding, polishing, sandblasting, acid etching – including both the use of power tools and manual techniques. The goal of the workshop is to examine and practice each step of the process, not to create finished pieces. Prior glass cutting/fusing experience is helpful but not necessary.
Class limit – 4 students.

Intermediate Strip Method Fusing

Saturday, December 3 10 AM - 5 PM

Sunday, December 4 10 AM - 5 PM

This two-day workshop examines in greater detail some of the techniques learned in Introduction to Strip Fusing. Emphasis is on complex and geometric pattern creation, bowls and rounded forms, and advanced coldworking techniques. Introduction to Strip Fusing is not a prerequisite for this workshop, however students should have some prior glass cutting/fusing experience.
Class limit – 4 students.

Terms for All Workshops:

All workshops are held in the artist’s studio in Georgetown (Seattle), just north of Boeing Field. All tools and materials are provided except for eye protection (goggles or glasses). Each student must provide and wear appropriate eye protection at all times in the studio. Cost is $250 per student. $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve space; final payment of $150 is due 30 days prior to workshop. No refund for cancellations under 14 days. In all cases cancellation penalties may be applied to future workshops for up to one year.
